Vermiculite is a light, buffering natural material used for sowing, pre-cultivation, cutting propagation, establishment of mycorrhiza and more.

SOWING: Most seeds are light-germinating and need light in addition to water, heat and oxygen to germinate. Small seeds are particularly sensitive, which is why covering with vermiculite often gives better results than covering with soil. Covering with vermiculite also retains moisture in the top layer of soil and also prevents algae from forming on the surface. Sow the seed on well-drained soil, cover with a thin layer of vermiculite and press the seed so that the seed comes into contact with the soil.

BEET AND CHARCOAL: Beet and chard seeds are particularly dependent on oxygen to germinate. For best results, mix the seeding soil with about 5% vermiculite.

ESTABLISHMENT OF MYCORRHIZA: Symbiosis with mycorrhiza is stimulated by phosphorus deficiency. To make the seedbed less nutritious, it can be mixed with 5-10% vermiculite.

CUTTINGS: Rooting of cuttings of woody shrubs is favored by even moisture and well-oxygenated soil. It is advisable to mix the substrate with about 10% vermiculite.
